From: http://alettertosudan.com STOP THE GENOCIDE Hundreds of thousands of people in Darfur have been killed, raped, maimed, and more than 6 million have been displaced by militias supported by the government of the Republic of Sudan. Diplomacy and protests are only beginning to get the message across. We need to make the Sudanese government understand that there are millions of us who are committed to stopping this genocide. Please help flood the Sudanese government with letters and emails from around the world. Write a letter to: Republic of Sudan c/o Charge d’Affaires 2210 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W. Washington, D.C. 20008 Or send an email to: info@sudanembassy.org Sample letters which have been sent: Dear Mr. President, I am asking you to stop the genocide and displacement of the residents of the Darfur region. I believe that your government is supporting the various militias that are responsible for brutal acts of rape, ethnic cleansing and pillage. These groups and, therefore, you are committing crimes against humanity. This must stop. Sincerely, Mary Baker Ladies and gentlemen, The world has noticed your actions and demands that your government: · Stop the genocide in Darfur · Stop the oppression of the people of Darfur · Let the U.N. and humanitarian organizations do their work to protect your people. If you do not do this, we will support your prosecution for crimes against humanity and we will support intervention to overthrow your government.
