100 Year Journey at the Burbank Town Center
May 11, 2015 @ 3:00 pm - June 14, 2015 @ 8:00 pmFree
The 100 Year Journey – Continues at the Burbank Town Center Mall – Located on Level 2 (street level), next to Sears.
The 100 Year Journey is a multi-media “portal” that will be constructed and presented to the public during April 2015, coinciding with the commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Visitors to this portal will experience the power of the spirit in transforming and establishing peace – a peace for the soul with application for the world. This is a walk-through/hands-on experience which documents and presents scenery and places from the beginnings of all humanity (“Cradle of Civilization”) to some of the most ancient places of all Christendom. This is a journey to a mystical realm that will compel the imagination to think of peace and understanding in personal and global terms, leaving the participant a lasting impression of the wonders of the spiritual world.
The 100 Year Journey is the story of a nation and people that has survived tremendous perils, including genocide and has arrived resurrected, at the point of ascension. This is a story of discovery: finding the treasures of spirituality in a small war-torn, land-locked country, Armenia, and understanding how these gems of faith have brought tranquility to the soul of a people. The themes of love, faith, hope, forgiveness, good over evil are explored via the portal, revealing possibilities for life. This is the story of spirit guiding flesh. Culture, dance, song, poetry, food, seasoning, music and faith come together to present the essence of a people, defined by their deep roots tied to the land and the cosmos.
About the creative forces
The 100 Year Journey is a spiritual and artistic collaboration between:
- Father Vazken Movsesian, a priest of the Armenian Orthodox Church and the director of In His Shoes Ministries, an organization which rallies support for those who suffer in the world, based on the principle of repaying evil with good as a true alternative to violence and war. He leads seminars in the power of love and forgiveness as viable tools for bringing about peace. InHisShoes.org
- Gregory Beylerian, a multi-disciplinary artist, using the mediums of photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, sound and poetry, exploring new technologies, materials and processes to merge mediums in ways not traditionally possible. He describes his techniques as “flow dynamics,” inspired while training with a Shaolin Buddhist master. GregoryBeylerian.com
